Summary
Autoimmune neuropathies are immunopathological conditions which can be accompanied by the presence of antibodies against glycoconjugates of neural cell membranes. Autoaggressive reactions are mostly directed against gangliosides and some glycoproteins, for instance against myelin-associated glycoprotein. A relatively precise profile of anti-glycoconjugate auto-antibodies can be defined for a number of inflammatory neuropathies. The testing of antibodies against a wide range of gangliosides and glycoproteins is currently available in clinical laboratory diagnostics, with blot methods, enzyme immunoanalysis and indirect immunofluorescence ranking among the most frequently used techniques. The above methods are cost and time available and can contribute to the detection or specification of diagnosis of neuropathy.
Key words:
autoimmune neuropathy – gangliosides – myelin-associated glycoprotein – autoantibodies – immunoblot – enzyme immunoanalysis – indirect immunofluorescence
