Summary
The article briefly reviews headache classification and the subdivision into two groups of primary and secondary headaches, focusing primarily on clinical features and diagnostics of tension-type headache, migraine, cluster headache, and cranial neuralgias. The authors also describe basic strategies for therapeutic management of different headache types, acute headache treatment and prophylactic treatment. The specific antimigraine drugs, triptans, are mentioned and indications, side effects and contraindications of their use is described.
