Summary
Aulus Cornelius Celsus was a Roman scholar at the time of 1 century, the author of encyclopedic work Artes, from which was kept in original state only the treatise De medicina composed of eight books. This masterpiece is considered like the best and the most famous ancient extant medical work written in Latin. The first book is begun with the principles for the preservation of health of a healthy person; the second is dedicated to the symptoms of diseases; in the third is described the special treatment of diseases which affect the whole organism and the fourth is focused on the diseases where the cause is found only in certain parts of the body, such as in head, lungs etc. By the fifth and the sixth book Aulus Cornelius Celsus contributes to the history of pharmaco-logy. The sixth as well as the eighth book is dealing with the surgery, the injuries and also with everything what is related to bones. The work was firstly published in 1478 in Florence.
