Summary
In January 2018, the first Young Geriatrists and Young General Practitioners Workshop was held in the St. Charles Borromeo Hospital in Prague 1 with 100 participants from all over the Czech Republic. The topics of the lectures were chosen by both groups of young physicians with focus on problems encountered during the care of the elderly, where the geriatrists and general practitioners can effectively help each other. The main topics included: insomnia, dependence issues of older persons, evaluating the level of dependence for the purpose of care allowance, home hospice, assessment of medical fitness for driving. The atmosphere of the workshop was very friendly and the young geriatrists and young general practitioners agreed on the importance of their future cooperation to improve the quality care of older persons.
